SMALL TOWN, BIG DREAMS
Lake Placid's Olympic Story
A film by Marc Nathanson and Scott F. Carroll

It’s the story of sports legacies and family histories, of the Lake Placid Sheas, the only American family to produce three generations of Winter Olympians – with Jack winning two gold medals in 1932, son Jim competing in cross-country skiing in 1964, and grandson Jimmy winning gold in 2002, 70 years after his grandfather carried the flag in the ’32 opening ceremony. It’s the story of how a sleepy resort town hosted the first U.S. Winter Olympics in 1932. And it’s the story of the 1980 Olympics, Eric Heiden’s five gold medals, and the event voted the greatest sports moment of the 20th century by Sports Illustrated – the Miracle on Ice.
